A Little About Me...
It feels good to be back! Do you ever feel like if you can’t give much of your focus to something, you better put it aside for awhile and give it a rest? That’s how I felt about writing and the blog. I feel as though I was able to take a nice slice of time to realize I need to reignite that outlet where I can write, be honest, and share. So here it is- a new look and a new way of sharing my life and inspirations. Hope you all enjoy! I appreciate all the love and support I’ve gotten! None of it goes unnoticed!

I thought if you’re new around here, that I’d share a bit about myself and why I enjoy this type of platform so much.
Hi, I’m Alida. Holland and Mint really isn’t a personal blog, I’d say to me it is really more of an homage to the “old fashioned” magazine. I’m probably one of the few people still receiving magazines in the mail. It’s how I grew up- ripping out page after page from all my magazines and compiling them into binders where I’d store anything I found inspiring: from fashion and beauty to home decor and how to tips. If I didn’t know what to wear- I’d file through my binders and get some inspiration! If I wanted some fresh ideas- I’d peruse my cutouts and stumble upon something that lit up my soul.
It’s so funny how different it was when there was no internet. I still remember being so inspired by those snipets I’d find in magazines. I would try to recreate what I’d seen by going to thrift shops and making my own rhinestone vintage sweatshirts. If I couldn’t find it in stores then I’d create it myself. Ive had a love for fashion and design since I was a young girl and it’s never left me. Just like I used to growing up, I take clothes to get altered with a bit of lace added or for a different fit because I have a certain vision and I love when my vision becomes a reality! That’s why I love Holland and Mint- I want to share my visions and my inspirations with you all!
I’ve gone from being a girl in college studying Communications and Advertising to being a wife utilizing my interior design knowledge to remodel homes with my husband, to becoming one lucky Mama to two beautiful boys. My “title” in life has altered a bit over time but I’m still that same fashionista and decorista at heart. It runs through my veins. I’m still ripping pages out of magazines; really- I still rip pages out, and have boxes full of little inspiration nuggets. I want to share this and more with you all! I love doing the work, the research, and the testing to then be able to describe what I find! Even with a little family of my own now- I not only get to style myself but I get to style my kiddos and I get to discover meals that they will like while still being healthy. Oh boy, not an easy task always!

I look forward to getting to know all you girls and women better and making this a community where we all can learn from each other and become inspired together!
